March 15 - 21, 2020 Saturn in Aquarius

This week sees both the Sun and Mercury changing signs. But the biggest news is Saturn's foray into Aquarius, where it will be briefly until July 1, 2020, at which point it will retrograde back into Capricorn. This period of March 21 - July 1 will give us a window into some of the themes Saturn will bring when he moves into Aquarius for the next three years on December 21 2020.

Monday March 16 -Mercury in Pisces

Mercury moves back into Pisces after completing its retrograde phase last week. Our communication becomes more poetic, spiritual and emotional, but also more vague. We may misunderstand others, or not communicate as clearly as we'd like to. From now until it moves into Aries on April 11, expect communication to be unclear, and misinformation to abound. Take what you hear with a grain of salt and use common sense. The other danger is that our feelings can easily be hurt, or we may hurt others without meaning too. On the bright side, the next few weeks are great for developing your creative ideas. If you are isolating during this time, it can be a fruitful time for exercising your imagination through music, poetry and dance.

Thursday March 19 - Sun in Aries (Equinox)

Spring Equinox (autumn in southern hemisphere) occurs when the Sun moves into the sign of Aries. The Sun shifts our focus from dreamy Pisces, where we imagine possibilities, and turns us towards action. We have a dream, now what are we going to do about it? Fiery Aries asks us to charge forth over the next month, to see the change of season as an opportunity for new starts, and to plant the seeds of new projects.

Thursday March 19 - Sun sextile Saturn

As the Sun prepares to leave Pisces and Saturn prepares to leave Capricorn, the two make a sextile at 29 degrees of these signs. The Sabian symbols for these are "A Great Stoneface" and "A Secret Business Conference". This aspect provides us an opportunity to work behind the scenes towards a long term vision or broader goal. On a wider level, there may be secret meetings or things going on that we may not be aware of that will have implications for the future.

Friday March 20 - Mars conjunct Jupiter

Mars the planet of action, competition and war joins forces with expansive and optimistic Jupiter at 22 degrees of Capricorn today. "Two Awards for Bravery in War" is the symbol for this degree. This aspect encourages us to act with courage and to push ourselves to step outside our comfort zone. Look at your Capricorn house in your own chart and ask yourself, what courageous step can I take today for the greater good.

Saturday March 21 - Saturn in Aquarius

This is the biggest news of the week, as it is the start of a preview into what Saturn in Aquarius will bring for December 21 2020 - March 7, 2023. Saturn in Capricorn was all about upholding tradition, structures of government, business and building walls. Saturn is the planet of boundaries and restrictions, and in Capricorn we may of felt held back by tradition and the old way of doing things. When he moves into Aquarius, the sign that rules scientific development, radical ideas, rebellion and humanitarianism, he asks us what structures do we want to bring to these areas? Expect more boundaries and laws restricting technology and the internet. We have to think collectively about how we want to control the spread of misinformation, online bullying etc. He also asks us about how we want to structure scientific discoveries into the collective. The last time Saturn was in Aquarius was in 1991 - 1994, which saw the emergence of the internet, a technology which altered our way of communicating and accessing information, and made the world a smaller place. Aquarius is a sign of the collective, and Saturn in Aquarius years tend to be one of more collective awareness. The period previous to the 90s was 1962 - 1964 which saw the emerging popularity and accessibility of colour television. Expect the next three years to bring advancements in technologies that emphasize the collective experience.
